Our choral/vocal folders with the Comfort-hold hand holding system all have a spine that enfolds the inner metal or plastic hinges that hold rings or elastics. For this reason, they will always have a slight "bump" (like a hardback book) but most people are quite comfortable using the folders on a keyboard/stand or table.
